We're excited to announce the upcoming launch a team pickleball league in NWA. It is just like once-a-week open rec play but the difference is your games count, and your teammates games count too. League play consists of playing other teams around Northwest Arkansas. Stay tuned for updates!
A team consist of 8 to 10 pickleball friends with the same skill set and general age. A match will have 6 teammates (3 pairs) playing 3 games each. So, 8 to 10 teammates is about the right size for substitutes.
A match is two teams playing each other at a scheduled time. The team will designate 6 players in 3 pairs that are eligible to play that match. The 3 pairs from each team will play in a round robin format. As a result, every pair plays each other pair and everybody plays 3 games. The matches will not last for hours.
To add to the competition, scoring follows the USA Team Pickleball rules or method so you may not know who wins the match until the last point of the last game.
-Game winner gets 2 points
-Game loser gets 1 point, if they score 6+ points.
-Game loser gets 0 points, if they score 5 or fewer points.
A team could lose the last game of the match but still win the match if they happen to score at least 6 points in the loss.
We are two volunteers that are trying to get Team Pickleball started here in NWA. We are originally from Arizona and saw how wildly popular Team Pickleball was there. Plus, hundreds of teams are playing in Florida, California, Colorado, etc. If we get a season started this year, we can qualify to send one or more teams to the National Team Pickleball Championships! Come on Arkansas let's win it.
If you want to help, be a free agent, or be a coach to coordinate a team, drop us a line. We would be looking for teams from all over NWA: Branchwood, Metfield, Matrix, Dual Cities, Creekside, Shadow Hills, Fayetteville AC, Springdale Rec, the RAC, Mt. Hebron, Jones Center, Walmart AC, Bentoville AC, and others.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
